Our topic study is on the Omaru Creek,and I have just read an article that tells me facts about it.  It was said that they found something inside the pipes causing blockage. Things such as fat,oil and wet wipes. When I read that article it was stated that rubbish like that can not break down into water and it will only grow into big clumps.

That is why the residents of the community and the  whole of Glen Innes school will be working together to clean up the the section that is closest to Apirana road,even the younger kids will be doing it.  My class and I just went to visit the stream and I saw a aerosol can,piece of cardboard,metal buckets, moss, sticks/branches, cigarettes,bird feathers,chocolate wrapper and insects.

This is the condition of the creek now, and I am hoping after we do a fix it up with the whole school it will look much more nicer, I also hope that people will treat it nicely and WILL not throw their rubbish inside the creek.  When we arrived there we could seen that the water was no clean and it wasn’t flowing like a normal creek would. What is the Omaru Creek? It is a creek that has been treated like dirt and we have to something about that.

At the moment I am living with my 4 sisters,1 brother .  These are my siblings oldest to youngest, so it goes Auariki,Tuki,Lanu,Siunipa (Me),Mafi,Naia,Martha last and little Teina,Also with my nena,mum and dad.My favourite food is Chocolate cheesecake with chocolate ice cream,the artist I admire a lot is Hailee Steinfeld and here are a few of the songs I like,Sideline,Starving and Beautiful.

The chores I mostly do at home is clean the kitchen, outside and the pool. Then at school I come and put the blinds down and water room 8’s little plants.In class my friends are Heather,Lakai,Natalia,Rebecca and my friends at home are .My favourite food is Chocolate cheesecake and chocolate ice cream.In the weekend I mostly help my mum take care of my baby sister,and also play cards with my sister,we both get competitive when we play with each other.

I love the show Shortland Street, Home and Away, Neighbours. I use to play netball for Glen Innes school and I sometimes watch it on tv with my older sisters.I play alo of card games with my with my younger siblings and I reckon I am the best in my house so, I will have to say I am a star at card games.To show people I care, I will help them if they are in need of my help.  When I grow up I would like to attend Tamaki college because all of my siblings and cousins are there.

Who is my hero ? If I had to pick a hero I would have to say my mum because she has raised me well since I was a newborn baby,and because she makes an effort to get up every morning and make us breakfast, make us a healthy lunch then when we come back from school she has dinner prepared for us.

When you breathe in, or inhale, your diaphragm tightens and moves downward. This increases the space in your chest cavity, into which your lungs expand. The intercostal muscles between your ribs also help enlarge the chest cavity. They contract to pull your rib cage both upward and outward when you inhale.

GUESS What happens in the Digestive System: The function of the digestive system is digestion and absorption. Digestion is to break it up so it can get it around the body.

We were learning about endangered birds and what will kill them if they are not kept safe,and my teacher put the assessment sheet we had to work on and it was about the endangered birds. I also had to list down some predators

1. Make a list of some endangered birds in New Zealand.

  

Takahe      There are 200 Takahe's left in the world.

Black Robin  There are only 250 Black Robin’s left in the world.

Kakapo  There are only 40 Kakapos left in the world.

2.  Why have these birds become endangered?
These defenseless birds were an easy food source for the first humans, ancestors of the New Zealand Maoris, and later European settlers. People brought with them a host of predators: dogs, cats, weasels, possums, and rats.

3.  What can you do to help endangered birds?

I can help by picking up rubbish because sometimes bird’s think that plastic bags are food and eat the plastic then they could die.

Mean,Median,Mode and range

Mean,Median,Mode and range.

The mean is the ‘average’ of all numbers or scores.

1.              Add up all the scores.
2.              Divide this total by the number of scores you added up.

The median is the middle score,once the scores are in order.

1. To find the median,scores must be placed in order from smallest to biggest.  Start counting one off each end.  Keep going until you have one score left in the middle.

The mode is the most common score, there may be more than one or none at all.

Martin and Jack both like cricket.  During the cricket season they both score many runs, but who is the better batsman?  Each batsman had five turns at bat and scored the following runs.  Martin said, “I’m better batsman!” Is Martin correct?

There are two groups of 10 students in Room 11.  They all sat the same test. Their test results are as listed.  Mya, who is in Group B, said “Our group is better as we had three students who got 10 out of 10!” Is Mya correct?

As you can see in my piece of work here I have learnt about the median, mean and the mode so here is some work I did with my reliever teacher. We also did some word problems were we have to find the median and the mode.
