Silhouette of Cabbage Trees and Bulrushes on the banks of the Omaru Creek

For art we did silhouettes of cabbage trees and bulrushes because those were the plants we found on the banks of the Omaru Creek.  We dyed the background purple and orange because we wanted it to dry faster,then some people painted cabbage trees and some painted bulrushes.  We did this because it was based on our topic study the Omaru Creek. 

Investigation into volleyball skills

Just now we filled in a spreadsheet and used online tools to put it into graphs.  As you can see there is a line graph,pie graph and bar graph,I really think that this is a big help because you don’t have to waste your time drawing the graphs.  It was a really cool experience using the online tools because I have never in my life use it,and I use to think that it was useless but to when I used it it was really useful.

We got back to class after fitness,and Mrs Ramkolowan wanted to open our package that we got from Grey Main school. We all were delighted to see their postcards and their “We are page”.  We waited nervously for miss to open it,she finally opened it up and passed around the postcards with the metaphors on it.  I really liked how all of them were from different places in the world, and also their metaphors.

Get NZ Writing

Room 8 is one of the classes all around New Zealand in the Get New Zealand Writing programme, and there is about 3000 schools participating in this programme.  For the last few days we have been working on our package to send to Grey Main school from the South Islands.  So we have just sent our package off and we are waiting to receive their package from them.

Metaphor poem

Room 8 is a noisy bumble bee that buzzes all the time.

Room 8 is a blue Jaguar that can go faster then you can image.

Room 8 is Auckland's Skytower because we have a few tall people in our class.

Statistical Investigation

Walt:  conduct a statistical investigation.

We used google maps to determine the walking  distance to 124 Apirana Avenue. This is the entrance to the Omaru Creek that we are studying. The screenshot shows the route, distance and time from my house to the creek. Furthest  is zain for him it is 4.8 km and it takes him 59 minutes, the closest is Jolie for her it is 550 m and it takes her 7 minutes.Harrison lives in East Tamaki so …..Next, we .will be calculating the mean and the median.

Math games

I have just played a math game that didn’t challenge by brain.  I reckon that this game was too easy because it had very easy additional sums and it only had 2 digit numbers being added together,  next time I would like a game that would challenge my brain.
