Omaru Creek - Metaphor poem

Siunipa is the colourful leaves all over the place,on the ground,in the dark coloured water and on the plant’s.

Siunipa is the plan’t on the banks on the creek that prevents the soil from washing away.

Siunipa is the eels swimming around looking for food to satisfy their hunger and make their stomach stop grumbling.

Highest to lowest :Fractions

I played this balloon pop math game,  and what you had to do was pop the biggest fraction and then the lowest fraction.  At first I didn’t read the instructions and that is why I got the first few questions wrong,  I then started to get the game and at the end I got a score of 13334 on this game.

Tamaki River Familiy Tree

WALT:  Draw a family tree.

Our topic study is based on the Omaru Creek,and we did a Family River Tree because the Omaru Creek is a branch of the Tamaki River.   The creeks that flow into the Tamaki River are part of the Tamaki River Family Tree.  The Tamaki River starts at around Middlemore and ends at the Waitemata Harbour.

Fractions Monkey

This is the fraction math game I played and you have to put the right fraction on the number line.  I got 2 mistakes but I am ok with it,because I just learnt it on the mat with the extension group.  I hope I can learn more about this  and hopefully get it all right next time I play this game.

Silhouette of Cabbage Trees and Bulrushes on the banks of the Omaru Creek

For art we did silhouettes of cabbage trees and bulrushes because those were the plants we found on the banks of the Omaru Creek.  We dyed the background purple and orange because we wanted it to dry faster,then some people painted cabbage trees and some painted bulrushes.  We did this because it was based on our topic study the Omaru Creek. 

Investigation into volleyball skills

Just now we filled in a spreadsheet and used online tools to put it into graphs.  As you can see there is a line graph,pie graph and bar graph,I really think that this is a big help because you don’t have to waste your time drawing the graphs.  It was a really cool experience using the online tools because I have never in my life use it,and I use to think that it was useless but to when I used it it was really useful.

We got back to class after fitness,and Mrs Ramkolowan wanted to open our package that we got from Grey Main school. We all were delighted to see their postcards and their “We are page”.  We waited nervously for miss to open it,she finally opened it up and passed around the postcards with the metaphors on it.  I really liked how all of them were from different places in the world, and also their metaphors.

Get NZ Writing

Room 8 is one of the classes all around New Zealand in the Get New Zealand Writing programme, and there is about 3000 schools participating in this programme.  For the last few days we have been working on our package to send to Grey Main school from the South Islands.  So we have just sent our package off and we are waiting to receive their package from them.

Metaphor poem

Room 8 is a noisy bumble bee that buzzes all the time.

Room 8 is a blue Jaguar that can go faster then you can image.

Room 8 is Auckland's Skytower because we have a few tall people in our class.

Statistical Investigation

Walt:  conduct a statistical investigation.

We used google maps to determine the walking  distance to 124 Apirana Avenue. This is the entrance to the Omaru Creek that we are studying. The screenshot shows the route, distance and time from my house to the creek. Furthest  is zain for him it is 4.8 km and it takes him 59 minutes, the closest is Jolie for her it is 550 m and it takes her 7 minutes.Harrison lives in East Tamaki so …..Next, we .will be calculating the mean and the median.

Math games

I have just played a math game that didn’t challenge by brain.  I reckon that this game was too easy because it had very easy additional sums and it only had 2 digit numbers being added together,  next time I would like a game that would challenge my brain.

Bentley

Congratulations Heather and Jenascia on winning the bentley car ride home,you are very luck to ride in a very posh car home,once again congratulations and I hope you enjoyed the ride.

Math

I think I have shown acceleration in math because we did a addition and subtraction test and I got them wrong. But now I know the steps of addition and subtraction, I don’t need further learning of adding and subtracting because I can do it on my own and I learnt it in a little amount of time.  As you can see in this image I took ,I got all of the word problems right.

Badminton with Kylie

In the morning we went badminton at 9:40, and when we arrived to the hall all of the shuttlecocks and bats were ready for us to get started.  When we all paired up, we all got started.  The lesson just had finished and I was in the mood for some cold refreshing water.
